If you plan to to take a dip , then go north to versoli or south to kashid . Alibag in general doesnt have Clear water or white sands -- looks brownish - blackish all the time.

Beaches are the prime attraction here. You may visit Kolaba fort, which is approximately a kilometer in the sea from Alibaug beach. Plan your trip around afternoon time so that you may walk or take a horse cart ride costing 500 (return fare) and still have ample time to spend in the fort. By evening high tide returns and would swallow the walkable path to fort. Extension of Alibaug is Versoli which is less crowded. Carry your own water and blanket here, cause you will not find much here. You may try Khim beach too, it's at a distance though. Few temples are there too. 20 km from Alibaug is Brahma Kund
