A quieter setting than Harbour Town. Much smaller with fewer stores and attractions. Home of the Salty Dog restaurant. Better for those looking for a quieter alternative. Bob S的完整评论
We are staying in Richmond Hill, GA which is 25 minutes from downtown Savannah (Per Mapquest) and want to go to the Beach for a few hours tomorrow. Where should we go where there is not a massive crowd of people and/or parking issues.

Being a holiday weekend, it will be packed on both North and South beach in Tybee. Best option is to arrive early. Before 1000 hrs.

Be sure to check out the squares that were set up when the city was built. There is a lot of great history in and around the area. One advice I will give you is to you your compass for awhile as your mind will say one direction and you will be going in another. We really enjoyed our stay and will go back again. we did not have enough time with 7 days to see all that we wanted to see. I know that you will have a great time and enjoy the trip. My daughter and I used to go to Columbus, GA to see my son (her brother). the time on the road gave us time to really get to know each other better. There is nothing better than alone time one on one with your child. Have a great trip and greater time together.

Since Tybee is an island and a small one at that, you can walk from North beach where there are shops and restaurants etc down to South beach which is more residential and around to the back of Tybee which is totally residential. The beach is long and the back beach is much less travelled.On the back beach there is a sandbar which can be reached at low tide by walking through the shallow water but be careful not to get caught there when the tide turns as the tide is very strong and unwary tourists have been caught in the strong tide and drowned. The extreme end of south beach has tidal pools and some rocky spots but it is a beautiful beach is you like secluded spots. There are no other beaches on Tybee but Hiiton Head is across the river but 60 min away by car. If walking is your exercise, the beaches on Tybee will suit you well.

Tybee does have two dog parks located directly behind the police dpt. One for small dogs and one for large dogs. The citizens of Tybee dont mainly use them for different reasons. Was a really nice dog park centrally located on TI but it got moved.
