Not sure from China, though. You can get a private taxi if you ask around at the Waterfall border market. Most expensive but the best peace of mind is to get a private tour arranged from Hanoi, stay overnight in Cao Bang or Ban Gioc and do both attractions the next day. Hope this helps.
