Driving up to this park, it's hard to believe there's much to see until you get right there. The canyon opens up abruptly and it is impressive! We visited in April and loved it so much we returned … Cello12345的完整评论

DO NOT GO HERE. The whole waterfall is blocked off and they still charge you $10. You can’t get any closer than about a quarter mile. I included a picture of how close you can get. Nathan C的完整评论

This place is off the beaten path, down a long dirt road. But once here, it was worth it. It is amazing how out in the middle of nowhere there is this huge waterfall! Great place to sit in the shade … Reigo的完整评论
Planning to go on Saturday 15th June from Pullman. At what time should we reach there to enjoy its beauty and how much time is typically spent there?

I was there on a week day in May so I'm not sure about summer traffic. I agree with CascadeNo about trying all the trails. To the left of the parking lot. Nice views of falls from the side. Don't get too close to the edge, There was a trail up a slope through the field to the left of the parking lot we should have tried out just to get an overall view of the area.
I’ve heard it can be over-crowded on the weekends. Is it worth the large crowds? Thanks

Crowds are relative. It's not crowded to the point you feel like you're in Yosemite Valley or Disneyland or anything like that. From about 1/2 mi. to the north and south of the main parking lot there are viewing places along the rim to observe the falls from different perspectives. The busiest time will be late morning-mid afternoon. If you arrive in the early morning, unfortunately the sun may be in your eyes, obscuring pictures. But if you arrive after 4pm you should have awesome pictures and way less crowds because more people will be on their way for dinner somewhere (a long drive away!). If the park gets too busy, they actually close the 2 mi. entrance road for a little while until more people leave. That helps keep the crowds down.
How far is the trail to the Palouse Falls? How steep is it?

To view the falls, one only has to hike down about 20-30 steps from the parking lot. There is a paved trail that heads to the south about 0.25 mi. to another excellent overlook of the canyon below. There is also a trail that heads to the north with other great angles of the falls. You could continue on that trail another 0.5 mi. or so, but beyond that you have to double back and climb down a steep embankment about 0.25 mi. to reach the Upper Falls which are upstream from the main falls. Another 0.25 mi. walk along this trail downstream and you will reach the lip of Palouse Falls...which unfortunately is really hard to get good views of from this area. The views are actually best on the rim closer to the parking lot. IMO, I would just stick to the overlooks right near the parking lot and walk about 0.25 mi. south and 0.5 mi. north from the parking lot along the cliff edge to get great views of the falls. Plan to spend about 2 hours at this magical place taking it all in.
