How far of a drive is this from the Mission Beach area? When I Google it I receive an estimated drive of two hours.

It’s about a 10 min drive from Borrego Springs, so as a reference it’s about 2 hours for us to get there and we live in Carlsbad

We could get to the parking lot with a 2wd. But if you plan on getting to font's point, go for 4wd.
